New, from Monterey CA Gonna be graduating from UC Santa Cruz with my BA in Economics. Just recently started reading books in investing (the two little books of investing, the green and blue (didn't like the magic formula as much, seemed risky to rely on a formula, but liked the underlying message.)
Anyways, I'm just starting out saving my money, currently set up my fiance's 401k and taking the advice of both books have them 100% in the stock market because it's money we don't want to worry about for another 10+ years. Unfortunately fidelity didn't have any good value funds, but I diversified sufficiently to hopefully achieve a little above the market average.
Right now I'm in the experimenting stage, have a couple make believe portfolios on VirtualStockExchange (part of market watch). Experimenting with my own attempts at valuating stocks and companies. I've stuck with a 5% of total equity into each stock, currently working on getting a total of 20 companies in my portfolio, current market up trending has been good for my portfolio, but hope it also proves to be a good value portfolio for the long run.
Let me know what you think of these stocks (no need to analyze each one, just if you see one that pops out to you, why and what you think of it.)
