Small Banks
Hi Blast,

I'm curious.. quite a few small banks are near 52 week lows.. do you know the reason? Is it due to sub prime issues? or are there other reasons?

Thanks

Hi igt500:

This could be reason as you mentioned. Certainly lots of banks were invovled in sub-prime lending, and could be in deep trouble.

I usually shy away from financial stocks because of risk and hard to understand derivative problems. Usually I do not spend time studying the banks. Not my areas of interest, but I would be interested in learning this sector

It is very dangerous to invest into a bank without thorough research, without knowing exactly what bank is doing behind those deposits.

NetBank (NTBK) used to be very famous internet bank, the stock was as high as $60 a share, now it is $0.33 a share, and likely to go bankrupt and delisted.

NTBK is example of risk of small banks.

Hi
In the small bank world, I like SOV since it has great management. Try this stock. I also like BBD (which is a Brazilian bank).
