Blast, what is the stock screener you run weekly?
Blast

Would you mind sharing what type of tock screener you run weekly to unearth the candidates you found? I have noticed your pick is mainly the following four types?

1. Grham NCAV type of stock, such as MUSA(MTR) you identified in 2003.

2. Value stocks with the valuation is a lot lower than the peer? Such as the energy stock you picked in early 2004.

3. Selected few from Warren Buffet's pick such as ptr you selected in 2003.

4. Value stocks just ipoed or emerged from bankruptcy less than a year ago.

I am interested in what procedure/screening you do weekly to identify the good candidates from thousands of stock for further research. I have learned a lot from your detailed research articles. But I haven't hads systematic approach for identiifying the possible candidate.

Another thing is what criteria you use to determine whether it is a growth, value or turnaround stock?

Thanks

hfeng95,

For competitive reasons, BlastInvest policy is not to disclose details of stock picking procedures.

However, I want to say that the one key advantage of BIRTP newsletter is that most of the stock picks issued in BIRTP is out of our own stock research effort.

BlastInvest has a very large scale in-house data-mining operation and data mining is key part of success of BIRTP model portfolio performance. All the 7000 stocks are updated and stored in our in-house relational database and I personally do data-mining on this 7000 stocks in the database. I got question before on the watch list of BIRTP. The watch list is the whole 7000 stocks in USA because I personally mine data and do stock research on this whole database.

As you already know, BIRTP model portfolio was up 60% in 2004, and is up 22% year to date in 2005. This kind of success can not come without this large in-house data-mining operation.

We also have major upgrade for our free insider buying newsletter, with new information and new layout. I use insider buying information regularly and you can try it out if you have not subscribed to insider buying newsletter yet:

3x blast for providing such info. to us. I like the new style very much. But I still have a small requirement:

I remember that previous (long ago) insider buying list has info. like PE computed by blast's own method. Now it looks like those data is just coming from yahoo's result. I remember blast said that his method provide better result than yahoo's, although it is still a rough estimation based on yahoo's data. So can we obtain that result in the list without hurting blast's commensure operation ?

3x again

PE was from Yahoo finance before as well. There was never any BlastInvest calculation of PE in the insider buying newsletter.
