Henry Lu - a few words about myself and the forum
Hi Value Investing Forum new members,

My name is Henry Lu, nick name the "Blast Investor". I am the owner of blastinvest.com and value-investing-forum.com (VIF). I want to introduce myself to you and the forum to you.

You can get my Bio from here so that I won't repeat anything here:
http://www.blastinvest.com/intro.htm

Basically, the forum started out as part of BlastInvest.com a year ago. The forum initially was just for answering questions on BlastInvest fee based newsletter service (BIRTP newsletter), which is currently the "BlastInvest Public Forum" portion of the VIF right now. Due to limited budget constraint, we will continue to host this BlastInvest forum in VIF. If you do not like it, just ignore it and pretend it is not there.

I myself have been very active in various internet message boards. I believe the internet technology is great technology to help individual investors or anyone to gather information and making friends with others.

However, I have been quite dissappointed with many current message boards out there for 2 reasons. Many stock boards (ommit name) have huge crowds of short term traders or daytraders. Any time long term oriented investors post their messages, they would be attacked or be laughed at by short term traders. It is just ugly there and the fact is that long term oriented value investors are minority any where in the general stock boards. The second reason is that there are value investing focused boards there (ommit name). However, they charge fees and they do not allow free posting of msg for non-paid members.

Of course, the VIF and blastinvest.com is also commercial operation. I do not want to pretend to offer charity here. However, it is my belief that there is no need to charge fees on a decent stock forum for basic feature. The free forum can definately survive financially by selling ads or promotional sponsorship. I am commited that this VIF forum will be free forever for posting messages and articles for registered members.

For beginners, value investing forum is certainly very useful to get the answers. I myself certainly is much glad to answer any value investing related questions and help out. I am sure there are quite many experienced value investors in this forum would like to do so as well.

For savvy experienced investors, this forum is going to be great place for you too and I will tell you why here. In Peter Lynch's book "one up in wall street", he described a very valid networking method to get the promising stock leads: spouse or friends. At most, we only have one spouse and limited friends in our circle. Forum is a place that lots of like-minded value investors can share their promising stock leads and help each other. Of course, I believe any savvy investors should do our own homework before buy or sell. However, our time is limited and contacts or friends are limited so that the forum would provide us the promising leads down the roads. I spent lots of time answering questions in internet and I can say my time was not wasted. Not only I helped other by answering questions, I got help or stock leads from others in message board as well.

Welcome aboard. Feel free to ask me or others questions here.
