Re: Lin Yuan
Did the wealth come from stock investment?

There are quite many billionaires and millionaires in China who created wealth from business. But I have not heard of any investor who got rich from stock market in China.

Re: Lin Yuan
here was what I read on wenxuecity, written in Chinese though.
it seems that the story was not confirmed by any record (in china, income made from stock investment is tax-free, so there might be no tax-record)

from what was written in the news, it seems he is applying value-investment on chinese stocks.

Re: Lin Yuan
Forbes Magazine or Fortune Magazine Chinese edition tracks those super-riches in China every year.

Is 400 million in US $ or RMB Yuan ? If the unit is dollar, he/she should be able get into the ranks of super-riches.

Re: Lin Yuan
From the content of story, his method sounds like Graham style value investing, mainly book value or Net Asset value approach.

If the story is true, he would be the best investor in China.

Re: Lin Yuan
I deeply doubt this kind of stories. What I read was that he was trying to attract a lot of followers and pump his holding. If he was that great and he didn't have to try the pumping.

Re: Lin Yuan
Seems so, he 's trying to pump.

But on the other hand, he tried to convice others using
his trading records printed out by brokers.
I am not sure how true those printed records are.

I suspect how he can achieve such good investment record
with value investment method while the corp books are usually
cooked in china.

Also he quited around 2000 or 2001 and just restarted now
and therefore successfully avoided the 5 years bear market
of china. It sounds like "timing" and it's not real value investment.
