Only long term general market cycle (bear to bull and bulll to bear) has impact on value investing stock picking. In-between mini-cycle does not have that much of impact. Value investing mainly explores the long term business cycle, but short term.

Benjamin Graham's book Intelligent Investor summarized long term cycle on value investing very well. Many decades passed but nothing really changed that much from his books.

Individual industry has its own business cycle, which can be different from general market cycle, from boom to bust and bust to boom. Value investing typically take advantage of that too.

Value investing mainly explores business cycle or market cycle with valuation stock research, no guess work in pinpointing the exact business cycle . We only need to look at valuation. Valuation up or down by itself will explore business cycle very well already.
